Spice Cabinet Organization

Hi friends, today I wanted to share a little project I began right after moving into our house last summer. It’s the perfect project to tackle as you begin spring cleaning and it has made my time in the kitchen so much easier.

It is so easy to tuck those little spice containers away into baskets, cabinets and drawers, only to find you’ve purchased the same spice five times because you weren’t sure if you already had it. While moving out of our last house, I was mortified when I realized how many expired spices I had shoved into my cabinets. I vowed to change that after moving so this was one of my first little projects I started.

Our new home is small and cozy. One of my biggest goals for this house is to make each space really special. My vision for an organized spice cabinet definitely includes cleanly labeled and uniform jars and containers. This project is only half completed. It’s totally functional but I still plan to add paint or wall paper to the back of the cabinet. Our cabinets are brand new but I have to admit, I’m not a fan of the color inside. I’m still debating on a few options and will be sure to update you when I decide.

Last summer, for my 31st birthday, I decided to spend my birthday money on this cabinet project. It was such a great gift because it makes me smile every time I open the cabinet and that’s several times a day. Here’s what I ordered to get started:

1. Glass spice Jars

2. Modern spice jar labels

3. Modern pantry labels

4. Half gallon glass jars

5. 16 oz glass jars

6. Salt and pepper mill coasters

I decided on these jars based on the size of our spice cabinet and our most commonly used ingredients that I wanted to have on hand at all times. After they arrived, I washed them all in hot, soapy water and made sure they were completely dry before filling. The spice jar set even came with a mini funnel to make filing easier. I filled each jar and and carefully applied the labels.
