Corralling kitchen Cords
Spring is near, friends! I’m full into cleaning and organizing over here. As spring approaches, I get the itch to purge all the clutter and whip our home into tip top shape. Although we’ve lived in our house less than a year and are typically pretty organized, I find ideas to improve our spaces as we live and work in them each day. I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but kitchen cords have been making me crazy.
We eat the majority of our meals from scratch at home, which means I spend a great deal of time in the kitchen. I’m always looking for ways to make cooking for my little crew less stressful and more enjoyable. I felt myself getting frustrated a while back as I reached into a bottom cabinet for my hand mixer and the unwound cord pulled an entire rack of pot lids out at me. I knew there had to be an inexpensive and easy solution to the cords in my cabinets.
I found this huge pack of inexpensive cord wraps at Lowes and they solved my cord frustration for just a few dollars. It took less than 15 minutes to make this small change in my kitchen and I have plenty leftover to organize other spaces in my home.
I started by pulling all of the small appliances out of my cabinets and removing any twist ties or other “cord keepers” from them. After neatly folding each cord, I simply wrapped it with a Velcro cord wrap. This was also the perfect time to give everything a good wipe down with stainless steel cleaner and a microfiber cloth.
I also spotted this command cord wrap and knew I could use it to neatly wrap the cord on my Kitchen Aid stand mixer. My stand mixer is used multiple time a week and lives on our counter top. I wanted something that would clean up the cord but still allow it to be plugged in an ready to go when it’s needed.
That’s it, for just about ten dollars and a few minutes, all my kitchen cords are organized and no longer tangled! Such an easy and quick fix.
