Decorating Gingerbread Houses- A Favorite Christmas Tradition
One of the earliest Christmas traditions we started after having our boys was decorating gingerbread houses. This has become such a special tradition in our house and is something my boys anxiously anticipate each year. Although our houses look a little different each year, part of our tradition is for every family member to decorate their own house. I like to prepare the houses so they’re already assembled and set a festive table where we can enjoy nibbling on candies while decorating as a family. Today, I’m going to share a few simple tips that have made this tradition work well in our home. There are countless ways to do…

Salt Dough Gingerbread Man Garland
This past week, I found myself wanting to make a few things from my favorite gingerbread salt dough recipe. It’s quick, easy and requires minimal ingredients. I just love their imperfect cookie like texture and you can create the sweetest handmade decorations for practically pennies. Since my love of gingerbread themed Christmas decor continues, I thought it would be fun to make a simple garland of gingerbread men. I love how it turned out and my boys were quick to notice it hanging in our kitchen. If you’re interested in making one for yourself or as a gift, click here to get the recipe from when I made salt dough…

Gingerbread Advent Calendar- Free Printable
It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving has already come and gone and we’re headed into December this this week. I’m so excited to dive into fun Christmas activities. This year, I filled our Gathre advent calendar with a few small treats and plenty of easy and fun Christmas activities for my boys. They’re so excited and anxiously waiting for December 1st to see what each day brings. I love our advent calendar so much. It’s large, matches a variety of decor styles and the pockets are roomy enough to fit so many treats and small items. I started by printing a bible verse to fit in each pocket so we…

If you’re looking for simple and inexpensive Christmas decor, these snowflakes are the perfect DIY. I hung these from the ceiling all throughout our entry way last year and they made such a huge impact. This year, I decided they’d be perfect hanging above our hot cocoa station. You don’t need a ton of supplies to make these and can have several done in less than an hour. Here’s what you’ll need to get started: -Paper bags (You can use standard size lunch bags or smaller ones in whatever color you prefer.) You’ll need 8 bags per snowflake. -Hot glue gun with extra glue sticks -Sharp pair of scissors -Scotch tape…

What’s In Our December First Boxes
Since Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday, establishing Christmas traditions after having kids has meant so much to me. I hope that my boys will have the best memories of our celebrations together over the years. A new tradition we’re starting this year is December 1st boxes. In previous years, I’ve assembled Christmas Eve boxes with small treats and festive pajamas. This year, I thought it would work better for us if we do a December 1st box instead, allowing them to wear their special pajamas all month long. Christmas Eve is already filled with so much excitement so I thought it would be fun to spread things out throughout…

Baby Girl Nursery Closet Reveal
Our sweet Ella Kate’s nursery closet is finished and I’m so excited to share how it turned out. The room we chose to use as a nursery is fairly small including the closet, so I wanted to make each inch of the space both functional and meaningful. We started off by removing the builder grade wire shelf from the closet, filling the holes and giving it a fresh coat of paint. It took me a while to decide on the perfect shade of pink for the space and It turned out just as we had hoped. My husband added 3 floating shelves that are the perfect size for holding small…

I think every parent has a slightly different view on what’s important or essential to have for a new little one, it’s really just a personal preference. Some of these are items we’ve used with our previous two children and purchased…

Something I realized while sorting through boxes was that many of my favorite things are faux greenery and handmade gingerbread house decorations. Life Update & An Exciting Announcement!
I cannot believe it’s been over a year since my last post. I’ve missed sharing in this space and so excited to be back. We’ve had an exciting and busy year and so much has changed. We purchased a new home and moved to another city not too far. We’re still enjoying life on the East Coast. We’ve lived in our new home just over a year now and are slowly making changes to create spaces we love. While we miss our little cottage, it was well worth the sacrifice to be closer to family. I plan to share photos of our new home and some of the updates we’ve…
